On November 17 & 18 Brian Kou, Managing Director of EDGcompany, had the honor of attending the 2nd annual conference for OCT’s Planning Partner Alliance in Shunde, Guangzhou. Serving as both a showcase of the latest projects for OCT as well as a platform for industry professionals to gather and share ideas, the conference is a great place for likeminded people to come together and work towards developing the industry as a whole.
A Blending of Styles
The first stop during the conference was OCT’s latest destination – Harbour Plus. This new development is a smooth blending of a first-generation Harbour Plus Retail Dining & Entertainment (RD&E) in Shenzhen with both land and water parks to create a single, unique attraction for visitors to explore. Following a salon and dinner there they then made their way back to the local Marriott for a full day of meetings and discussions about developments across the country.

Moving Forward
Shunde OCT’s General Manager, Feng Hui, spoke at length about the development of Harbour Plus and the design considerations that went into it – in particular the incorporations of local Shunde features into the RD&E zones. A state owned enterprise, OCT is pushing to lead the way as a next generation developer in China and set a positive example for other developers to follow that are also looking to take on projects in the country.
By both completing an innovative product in their Harbour Plus project as well as creating a strong development platform in the Planning Partner Alliance Conference, OCT is on the right track to help pave the way for the future of RD&E.
